The Challenge

The walk-in was being converted from a spare room — 11×9 ft footprint. The client had a large saree and ethnic wear collection requiring a specific shelf pitch (6-inch clearance between shelves, not the builders' standard 12-inch). A dedicated display section with internal lighting was requested for statement pieces.

Our Solution

We produced a full 3D layout before any fabrication began — allowing the client to virtually walk through the storage arrangement and make changes to shelf heights and drawer counts. Island unit in the center for folding and accessories. LED strip lighting in the display bay, controlled by a separate switch. All carcass work in 19mm BWR marine plywood for structural integrity over the full 14 running feet.

Materials Used

  • 19mm BWR marine plywood — all carcasses
  • Matte PU paint (off-white) — shutter finish
  • Hettich Sensys soft-close hinges throughout
  • Full-extension soft-close drawer channels (Hettich)
  • LED strip lighting — display bay and island accent
  • Back-painted 4mm glass — island top surface

The Result

Completed in 12 days including a site touch-up visit on Day 14. The client specifically requested we photograph the saree section for her social media — the shelf pitch design has since been referenced by two other clients who visited.

They understood exactly what a wardrobe for an Indian household actually needs — not just shelves and drawers, but the right height, the right depth, the right position for every type of clothing we actually own.
